Martin J. Bascuñana is working as a lawyer with a focus on criminal law and a member of the Lawyers Association of the Balearic Islands (ICAIB). He studied at the Universidad de las Islas Baleares (UIB), where he was an employee of the Department of Roman Law, and in Navarra, where he was an employee of the Department of Administrative Law under the direction of Mr. Iñigo del Guayo and the judge of the Supreme Court, Francisco González Navarro. He had his reasons studying at the UIB and finally continued at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (National Open University) to which he has very good memories and that he appreciates. He currently has the degree course Criminology at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and also preparing for the competitive examination for the judgeship. In the 2003-2007 legislative period, he held a position of trust with the regional government from 2004 onwards. He was a member of the management team of Ibsalut and therewith responsible for the Department of Management Coordination, where he took care of the legal coordination of agreements concluded between the corporations contracts. In recent years, this period he is now no longer in a position of trust involved in establishing a register of wills. He continuing this work in the next coalition legislature, but eventually returns to his private activities back as a lawyer.
